About
Dr. Christine Matschke, PsyD, CADAC
I am an experienced clinical psychologist with over 17 years in private practice specializing in the assessment and treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma & substance use disorders. Family stressors, relationship difficulties, life transitions and grief/loss are also concerns that I treat. As your therapist, it is my priority to create a safe, supportive therapeutic atmosphere that promotes growth and positive change for you. I look forward to working with you to address your challenges and realize your goals. Therapy is a process that can move you toward being the healthiest version of yourself and living the life you desire.
Treatment Approach
At the beginning of my work with clients, I incorporate a biopsychosocial assessment to get a full picture of my client’s symptoms, problem areas and strengths. Then I work collaboratively with clients to develop an individualized treatment plan that includes tools to help sustain the growth experienced in regular therapy.
I use a variety of approaches to address my clients unique needs. Many successful treatment plans will utilize an integrative, relational approach incorporating Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and current research in Neuroscience, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Family Systems and Transpersonal Psychology.
In addition to working through distressing emotions and experiences, I have a holistic (mind-body-spirit) approach and emphasize building strengths, increasing resilience and promoting wellbeing. There is a growing body of research that supports the practice of self-compassion and mindfulness in psychotherapy. Neuroscience research reveals individuals that practice these techniques are happier, more resilient, and better equipped to heal painful memories from the past. It is my honor and mission to help my clients move past what’s blocking them from reaching their full potential individually and in their relationships.
